I hope you're all having a great Monday! Today I thought I'd share a project I made this past weekend.
Can you believe tomorrow July starts?! I'm glad I looked at a calendar the other day because this month has snuck up on me. I realized that for the next month I won't be home for a single weekend. I have some really fun travel plans coming up - back to my family's home in Wisconsin, up to northern California, and out East for some much needed vacation. I decided that since I wont have my weekends at home to be creative with, I'd take my creativity on the road. Nothing too involved, just some fresh new notebooks to doodle in. I'm going to try my best to fill up a notebook a trip - maybe with lists, maybe with doodles, maybe with new ideas - who knows! I used paper from the black and white paper pad for the covers and a variety of graph paper, dot paper, and regular paper for the pages. I put some stuff (tags, brads, some paper pieces) in a little bag and clipped it to the back cover for portability.
I made the notebook that I'm taking along on a week trip bigger than the others, and added a little pocket on the back cover.
I thought you might like to see the steps I take to make these really simple book/journals so I drew them out here. (and I apologize in advance for horrible spelling - I'm useless without a spell check.)

I hope my little 'directions' makes sense to more people than just me. There has to be a bunch of different ways to sew a book, this is just what I find the quickest. Well I'll be sure to share some pages after I fill them up...first trip on the docket - Milwaukee WI for the fourth of July!
Lovely notebooks. Great job! :)

I have a question about how you made the pocket. Did you just glue on an extra piece?

I've been wondering what size needle is best to use when sewing with a sewing machine. Does it depend on the thickness of paper?
Really like how you drew out the directions.
God Bless You and Yours and Your Creative Life!!!
