have I mentioned I love great type? I work with typography every day so it's no surprise I have a list of favorite fonts (and a list of fonts I very strongly dislike). And as much as I adore perfectly kerned, printed type, I find myself constantly drawn to hand-lettering. I think I might, *just might* prefer the imperfections of hand generated type to the crisp clean lines of computer fonts. A site I look at often is daily type. It shows an exploration of typefaces done by several russian type designers.

I love seeing the unconventional way they manipulate type - even though I can't read everything thats written! It really demonstrates how type can act as an image.
I also have been drooling over this book - Hand Job - A Catalog of Type by Michael Perry for some time now. It's top on my list of 'books I've been meaning to buy'.

look at these examples of wonderfully quirky and imperfect letters:

It makes me want to doodle letters for hours and hours. Maybe I will....
